A two-day local holiday has been declared in the federal capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, on Thursday, April 9 and 10, 2026, as notified by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Irfan Nawaz Memon for the expected peace talks between Iran and the United States (US) after Pakistan brokered the ceasefire today.

On Friday, April 10, Pakistan is expected to hold the Islamabad peace talks between the US and Iran.
In view of the upcoming talks, a two-day holiday has been announced in Islamabad on April 9 and 10. On Thursday and Friday this week.
According to the notification, there will be a two-day holiday within the revenue limits of the Islamabad Capital Territory.
However, essential services will remain operational. These include:
- MCI
- CDA
- ICT Administration
- ICT Police
- IESCO
- SNGPL
Additionally, the notification stated that hospital citizens are advised to plan their activities accordingly.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took to the social media platform X to announce the ceasefire.
“I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes,” the PM said.

Security arrangements for US-Iran peace talks
Islamabad is set to host Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and US Vice President JD Vance on Friday.
Security arrangements are also being made along with other preparations in the capital for the US-Iran peace talks.
According to a spokesperson for Islamabad Police, traffic diversions will be put in place on the Srinagar Highway. This is for the movement of foreign delegations.
Citizens have been asked to allow extra time for travel and to exercise patience. Islamabad Traffic Police officials will be present on the roads to guide citizens.
Qalibaf is the man to lead Iran’s negotiating team. The US Vice President JD Vance will likely lead his delegation in talks. Further details have not been disclosed yet.
However, informed officials said there’d likely be a public holiday in Islamabad on Friday. Additionally, the Army might take over the red zone’s security.
