President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have congratulated Sanae Takaichi on becoming Japan’s first female Prime Minister, expressing hopes for stronger bilateral relations and continued cooperation between the two nations.

He extended his warm congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, calling her election a “significant milestone” in Japan’s political history.
In his statement from the Presidency, he said that Japan’s decision to elect its first woman leader reflects its strong democratic values.
President Zardari also drew a parallel with Pakistan’s own history. Recalling that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto became the first female Prime Minister of the Muslim world nearly four decades ago.
Moreover, he expressed confidence that Japan would continue to progress and prosper under Takaichi’s leadership.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated Ms. Takaichi on her election. Furthermore, he said Pakistan looks forward to working closely with her government to deepen the “enduring friendship and cooperation” between the two countries.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural relations with Japan, a long standing development partner.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar also congratulated Japan’s newly appointed Foreign Minister, Motegi Toshimitsu, and expressed his desire to enhance mutual cooperation.
Both countries share decades of friendly relations marked by trade, investment, and development partnerships.
With the election of Japan’s first female Prime Minister, Pakistani leaders expressed optimism that ties between Islamabad and Tokyo will grow even stronger in the coming years.
