Bangladesh has expressed its pride in Pakistan’s effective mediation of the ceasefire in the Middle East, describing it as a significant and widely acknowledged development.
Bangladesh’s High Commissioner, Md Iqbal Hossain Khan, stated that Pakistan is expected to assume a more crucial role in global affairs in the near future.
He said that both nations continue to support one another on shared causes, while the citizens of Bangladesh and Pakistan are eager for stronger bilateral relations.
He made these comments during the celebration of the 55th anniversary of Bangladesh’s Independence and National Day at a local hotel.
The High Commissioner mentioned that he has been in his current position for approximately one year and four months, during which time cooperation between the two nations has enhanced across various domains.
He highlighted the economic significance of Bangladesh and noted that collaboration in textiles, minerals, and other industries remains robust, with cooperation expanding into multiple sectors.
He further stated that Bangladesh acts as a gateway for Pakistan to broaden its trade towards the Middle East, while Pakistan provides Bangladesh with access to Central Asia and other regions.
Deputy High Commissioner Muhammad Sakib Sadakat expressed gratitude to Pakistan’s leadership, including the President and Prime Minister, for their contributions to strengthening bilateral relations.
He stressed that increased leadership engagement and people-to-people interactions would further solidify the fraternal bond between Bangladesh and Pakistan amid the Middle East ceasefire.
In his address, Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi remarked that Pakistan is a peaceful nation playing a pivotal role in fostering global peace.
He characterised Pakistan as a proponent of harmony, adding that the Prime Minister and Field Marshal are making ongoing efforts for enduring peace in the region and beyond.
He also extended his congratulations to the government and people of Bangladesh on their National Day and Independence Day, presenting a bouquet to the High Commissioner.
