PM Shehbaz Sharif likely to visit Russia in June

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is likely to visit Russia in June and is expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during this time.

This was stated by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, in an interview. He said that work is underway for the visit dates, and it is hoped that this important visit will be possible by June.

According to the Pakistani ambassador, the Prime Minister views this visit as a historic opportunity and is eager to meet the Russian President. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif sees Russian President Vladimir Putin as an influential world leader and a wise figure and is excited to meet him.

He further said that diplomatic channels between Islamabad and Moscow have always been active, and through them, the message was given that a war with Iran could prove detrimental to Israel.

The Pakistani ambassador expressed his determination that Pakistan will continue its role in establishing peace and stability in the region and will continue to actively participate in diplomatic efforts at the global level.

Meanwhile, here Islamabad is set to host critical ceasefire talks as a high-level US delegation arrived in Pakistan for negotiations with Iran. With both sides already in the country, expectations are rising for a possible diplomatic breakthrough.

The high-powered US delegation is led by US Vice President JD Vance, along with Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The US delegation was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi upon arrival.

A high-powered delegation of Iran, led by Speaker of Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, along with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, also arrived in Islamabad on Saturday to participate in the Islamabad Talks.
