Pakistan weather forecast: rain, hailstorms expected

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert across the country from April 12 to 17 due to possible severe weather conditions.

Islamabad, Murree, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Sialkot are expected to receive rain with thunder, strong winds, and possible hailstorms from April 13 to 17.

The Meteorological Department has said that a strong weather system will affect the upper parts of the country.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), areas such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Mansehra, and Abbottabad may also have rain and strong winds between April 12 and 17.

Snowfall is also expected in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and other mountainous regions of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, most parts of Sindh and Balochistan will remain hot and dry. The temperatures are likely to rise even more.

Tourists are advised to check the latest weather conditions before travelling to northern areas.

Karachi to experience warmer weather

The weather in Karachi has been hot due to strong sunlight and low wind speeds, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

The Met Office said mild heatwave-like conditions have begun, and warm weather will continue for the next three days. The temperature may rise above 38°C by Sunday, today.

Today, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 36°C, while on Saturday it reached 37°C.

In the morning, winds are likely to blow from the northeast of Balochistan, and the usual sea breeze from the southwest may stay inactive for some time.

The department added that a full heatwave is not expected because humidity levels are moderate and the sea breeze disruption will be temporary.
