The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially unveiled the prize money details for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to take place in England, and the numbers are bigger than ever.
The total prize pool has been increased by 10%, rising from $7.9 million to an impressive $8.764 million, marking a significant boost for the women’s game.
As per the latest announcement, the tournament winners will take home a massive $2.34 million, while the runners-up will receive $1.17 million. Meanwhile, teams that fall short in the semi-finals won’t leave empty-handed, as each will be awarded $675,000.
With higher stakes and growing global attention, the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 promises not only thrilling cricket but also a major step forward in rewarding excellence in women’s sports. In the group stage, teams will earn $31,154 for each win. Additionally, every participating team is guaranteed $247,000.
Women’s T20 WC scheduled to begin in June
The Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 12 in England, where the top teams from around the world will compete for the title.
The 2026 edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup will mark the tournament’s 10th instalment and will be hosted by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). England previously hosted the inaugural edition back in 2009.
A total of 12 teams will compete in 33 matches across seven venues, making this one of the largest editions in the tournament’s history. The number of participating teams has been expanded from 10 to 12.
The lineup will include the host nation, the top five teams from the 2024 tournament, and the two highest-ranked sides in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings that have not already qualified. The remaining four spots will be filled through regional qualification tournaments.
Notably, the Netherlands has secured qualification for the Women’s T20 World Cup for the first time, marking a historic achievement for the team.
