Multan Sultans were chasing 197 and were restricted to 172 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. They had a very useful partnership in the middle overs but were not able to stick the landing. This was their second defeat of the tournament.

Their chase had a shaky start. This was because Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for 17 who had been in good form. He was dismissed in the third over with the score on 30.

Josh Philippe and Steve Smith then tried to steady the innings with a 55-run stand. Things got back into Zalmi’s control in the 10th over when both the set batters were removed Muqeem.

Smith was able to make 31 runs from 29 balls and Philippe was able to make 32 runs off 17 balls and also struck six fours.

However, Multan was still kept in the hunt by Shan Masood with a quick 35 off 19 balls. He hit five boundaries during his stay.

The captain Ashton Turner and Masood added runs. Arafat Minhas also contributed. However, Zalmi continued to take wickets.

At the end Mohammad Nawaz scored 16 runs of 16 balls and then he was dismissed in the final over by Aamir Jamal.

He kept things tight at the death to seal Zalmi’s fifth win.

The bowling effort was led by Muqeem. He took three wickets for 30 runs in four overs. Nahid Rana and Iftikhar Ahmed also picked up two wickets.

Multan Sultans had won the toss and it was their decision to bowl first. However, that decision did not produce the desired result.
