Pakistan Fastest train Lahore to Rawalpindi

It has been decided to run Pakistan’s first fast train from Lahore to Rawalpindi, which will cover the journey in two and a half hours.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, and the federal minister of railways, Hanif Abbasi, signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding, in which a new and modern era of Pakistan’s railways is going to begin in Punjab.

Under this project, state-of-the-art trains will be operated on 1,415 km long routes in 20 regions of Punjab.

Pakistan’s fastest train from Lahore to Rawalpindi

The biggest breakthrough of the agreement is the launch of Pakistan’s first fast train between Lahore and Rawalpindi, in which the 280-kilometre journey will now be completed in just two and a half hours.

The Punjab government will provide new engines and world-class modern coaches for this project, while the provincial government will operate modern DMU trains to facilitate travel on regional routes.

The main routes include train service between Shahdara, Narowal and Sialkot, a 370 km long route from Raiwind, Kasur and Pakpattan to Lodhran, Sheikhupura, Jaranwala and Shorkot (220 km), Lalamusa, Malikwal and Sargodha route, a 303 km long inter-provincial route from Kot Addu to Dera Ghazi Khan and Kashmore and train service from Faisalabad via Chak Jhumra and Shaheenabad.

The federal minister of Railways, Hanif Abbasi, said that an automated system is being introduced across Punjab to prevent railway accidents.

Lahore Railway Station upgradation

In addition, to change the plight of the Lahore Railway Station, it will be upgraded to world standards, 40 kilometres of green parks will be built along the track from Shahdara to Raiwind, while more than 400,000 trees will be planted along the track and transformed into European-style landscapes.
