FIA arrests five individuals involved in Karachi hawala-hundi network

The Anti-Corruption Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Karachi has reported the dismantling of a significant illegal hawala-hundi network operating within the city, as stated by officials on Friday.

FIA officials indicated that a raid was executed based on inquiry No. 48/2026 at an office situated in Flak Niaz Tower, close to MA Jinnah Road.

During this operation, multiple individuals were arrested at Moinabad Future Mor in Landhi.

A friend of the deceased, Rehmat, mentioned that the two were riding a motorcycle when they invited him to join them. However, he declined and stayed in the neighborhood.

He subsequently learned of their tragic deaths resulting from the accident. An uncle of Mubashir revealed that he was the primary provider for a family consisting of seven siblings, which includes four brothers and three sisters.

The news of their demise incited sorrow and anger within the community. In a separate incident near Arambagh Park, a motorcycle accident resulted in one fatality and another individual sustaining critical injuries. Both victims were transported to the Civil Hospital Trauma Centre.

The deceased was identified as Adeel Hussain, 28, son of Ramzan, while the injured individual was identified as Umar, 35, also son of Ramzan. Police confirmed that they were brothers. Arambagh SHO Shah Faisal reported that the accident was caused by a collision with a rapidly moving bus.

Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle riders first collided with a roadside pushcart, causing them to fall onto the road, where they were subsequently run over by a bus approaching from behind.

The bus driver fled the scene. Police later seized the bus and detained its conductor, while efforts to locate the driver are ongoing. In another occurrence in Surjani Town, a teenage boy lost his life after being struck by a speeding vehicle near a private shopping center.

The body was immediately transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. The deceased was identified as Afser, 15, son of Maqsood.

Police reported that the victim was a school student who was killed after being hit by an unidentified speeding vehicle.
