Roti prices climb to Rs20 amid LPG inflation in Lahore

Nanbais has raised Roti prices from Rs14 to Rs20 in Lahore due to a rise in transportation costs as inflation continues to escalate in Pakistan.

The sudden and significant increase in the cost of plain bread has incited public outrage, as tandoor owners have ignored official price lists and imposed their own rates.

The price of Sada Roti, which was previously priced at Rs. 14, has now increased to Rs. 20, placing an additional strain on households that are already struggling, where bread is a daily essential.

Tandoor owners justify the price increase by stating that the rising costs of LPG gas and flour in Lahore, have left them with no alternative but to raise roti prices.

They state that they are willing to lower bread prices immediately if gas and flour are supplied at reduced rates.

The President of the Naan Roti Association has strongly rejected this, labeling the increase as self-imposed and unwarranted.

He said that such major price increases on essential food items are intolerable and must be controlled without delay.

Citizens have called for strict action from the district administration, urging authorities to enforce the implementation of official price lists.

They are demanding immediate crackdowns on those imposing arbitrary rates to provide relief to the public, which is already facing severe inflationary pressures.

LPG prices slashed across Pakistan

According to the reports, the price of LPG has been decreased by Rs20 per kilogram across the country.

Following this reduction, LPG in Karachi is currently priced at approximately Rs440 per kg, offering essential relief to families impacted by escalating fuel costs.

Despite this, residents of Lahore are experiencing considerable overpricing, as market prices frequently surpass Rs450–500 per kg due to shortages in gas supply and illegal market operations.
