Waseem Abbas opens up about complicated relationship with his father

Recently, Waseem Abbas appeared as a guest on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast, Excuse Me, during which he discussed his complex love-hate relationship with his father, Inayat Hussain Bhatti.

When asked about his ‘love-hate’ relationship with his father, Waseem Abbas said, “Let me share a funny story about my childhood. I was very disobedient and mischievous as a child while my older brother was the opposite, very disciplined. One day, my father called his lawyer in anger, to disown me as his son.”

“My eldest son is obedient and follows every rule. On the other hand, my younger son is disobedient and stubborn but half of my property’s share should belong to him”, the actor added.

The actor further added that since he was their family lawyer, he wrote everything down in all seriousness. However, the lawyer then posed the question to Waseem’s father, “Bhatti saab, what kind of disownment letter is this? You are writing that you wish to disown your son but want to grant 50% of your property to him.”

Waseem Abbas later added, “My father was a bit complicated but he loved me regardless.”

“In our generation, fathers always kept a distance from their children. They would keep their emotions and feelings inside. But you could still see the love and affection they had.”, the actor continued.

Upon being asked about what his relationship is like with his own son, the actor replied, “I believe that I am like a friend to my son. I do have differing opinions than him but we share everything with each other.”

Waseem Abbas is an experienced Pakistani actor, director, and producer in television and film, having been a prominent figure in the industry for more than forty years.

He is most recognised for his memorable performances in classic PTV dramas such as Family Front and Landa Bazar.
