Emirates has issued its latest update for April, announcing disruptions across its global network alongside guidance on flight status checks and refund options for affected passengers.

The airline confirmed that several flights have been cancelled, delayed, or rerouted, particularly impacting routes between Dubai and major destinations in Europe, India, and the United Kingdom. Key routes to cities such as London, Paris, and New York have experienced significant delays and diversions, leaving passengers facing extended waiting times at airports.

According to the airline, the disruptions are largely due to operational adjustments and rerouting over safer airspaces. Travellers flying from India to Dubai have also reported notable delays during this period.

However, Emirates has indicated that services on several Middle Eastern routes are expected to resume from May 1, signalling improving conditions and the gradual restoration of normal operations.

How to check your Emirates flight status

Passengers are strongly advised to verify their flight details before heading to the airport. Emirates has outlined several ways to stay updated:

  • Flight status page: Visit the official Emirates website and enter your flight number or route for real-time updates
  • Mobile app: Use the Emirates app under “Manage Booking” to check status and receive instant notifications
  • Email and SMS alerts: Ensure your contact details are updated to receive timely notifications about delays or cancellations
  • Travel updates page: Check the Emirates travel updates section for the latest information on disruptions, rebooking options, and refund policies

Refund process

Travellers who booked directly with Emirates can request a refund by filling out the official refund form. If the ticket was purchased through a travel agency, refunds must be processed through the agent.

Passengers are advised to complete any rebooking before applying for a refund, as unused segments of the ticket will be automatically cancelled and refunded.

Online services available

Passengers can use the airline’s website or app to:

  • Check updates or changes to their booking
  • Accept new flight arrangements
  • Choose alternate flights (within 72 hours of departure)
  • Review services like meals, seat selection, and chauffeur service
  • Make multiple booking changes under the current waiver (valid until May 31)
  • Update contact details for timely notifications

When additional help is needed

Some bookings may require direct assistance, especially if:

  • Parts of the itinerary have been cancelled
  • No confirmed flights remain in the booking
  • The ticket type requires special handling

In such cases, passengers can contact the Emirates call centre, use live chat on the official website, or visit designated ticketing offices.

The airline has also announced that city check-in facilities in Dubai are temporarily closed until further notice. However, passengers can still visit select Emirates service centres, including the reservations desk at Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport and other retail locations in the city.
