Dar holds key talks with Iranian FM Araqchi on regional peace

Pakistan has intensified diplomatic contacts aimed at bringing an end to the US–Iran tensions and reaching a peace agreement. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Sunday. The discussions covered the Islamabad talks, the regional situation, and bilateral cooperation in detail.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Ishaq Dar and Abbas Araqchi discussed the evolving situation over the phone. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised that continuous dialogue and coordination are essential for the early resolution of current issues. He stated that peace and stability in the region and beyond can only be achieved through dialogue.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact. They also decided that a telephone conversation would take place today between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, so that matters can be further advanced at the highest level.

It should be noted that earlier, US President Donald Trump confirmed the second round of talks with Iran in Pakistan. Following this, another phone call took place between Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also received a phone call from his Polish counterpart, Radosław Sikorski. Both leaders welcomed the positive progress in Pakistan–Poland relations.

According to the spokesperson, they also discussed regional and global issues in detail. The Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s efforts toward a US–Iran ceasefire and praised its continued diplomatic engagement and commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.
