Hours after announcing the ceasefire, US President Donald Trump has rejected calls to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, warning there would never be a deal with Iran “unless we blow up the rest of their country, their leaders included.”
He claimed Tehran only talks about closing the route to “save face” amid rising pressure.
Trump writing on Truth Social said that Iran depends heavily on the waterway, earning nearly $500 million daily through oil shipments.
He argued the route is already “blockaded” by US actions, putting Iran under financial strain.
According to him, Iran is facing internal stress, with reports of unpaid security personnel and economic decline.
