Claims circulating from an account calling itself “Global Trends Magazine (GTM)” about a so-called “world-exclusive interview” with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have been confirmed as false and misleading.
Authorities and preliminary OSINT assessment confirm that no such interview has been conducted, approved, or scheduled.
The account in question shows a questionable digital footprint, with limited followers, low engagement, and no credible verification, lacking the transparency and authenticity expected from a legitimate international media outlet.
The content appears to be a deliberate attempt to misuse the names of senior state leadership for attention and potential misinformation gains. The public is advised not to share, engage with, or amplify such misleading claims.
The platform “GTM” should be treated with caution in future as a potentially unreliable source of information.
The fake news started circulating at the time when Field Marshal Asim Munir emerged as a central figure in international diplomacy, adopting an active and unconventional role in an attempt to broker peace talks between the United States and Iran.
According to a report by the Financial Times, the Army Chief, having previously led Pakistan’s premier intelligence agencies, has utilised a unique strategic framework to revive long-stalled negotiations between the two rivals.
This month, after presiding over the most important high-level meeting between the two countries in decades, Field Marshal Asim Munir remained in Tehran for several days to engage with Iran’s political and military leadership, including the Revolutionary Guard, while maintaining a continuous line of communication with the White House.
The international media have stated that while deep-seated animosity and the complexities of global politics remain a major test for this mission, the diplomatic breakthrough is rooted in a strengthening of ties between Islamabad and Washington.
By acting as a trusted intermediary with sharp diplomacy, Field Marshal Munir is being recognised globally for his ability to navigate the high-stakes friction between the East and West.
Trump can’t say no to his friend Field Marshal Asim Munir: Former US General
Earlier US Army General (retired) Mark Kimmitt said that it is hard for (US President) Trump to say no to his friend (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir.
During an interview with Al Jazeera, the retired General said that “the relationship that president Trump has with Field Marshal (Asim) Munir in many ways when the Pakistanis were pushing hard for, he had a hard time saying no to his friend.
Retired General Kimmitt said that he was not surprised that Trump had announced an extension to the ceasefire with Iran. “I think both sides wanted it. I think both sides need it,” Kimmitt said.
It will likely emerge in the coming days whether there will be a second round of talks between the US and Iran, he said, adding that there is also a danger of the conflict becoming “frozen”.
