Google’s parent company, Alphabet, plans to invest up to $40 billion in AI company Anthropic, showing that Google wants to strengthen its position in the fast-growing artificial intelligence race.

Anthropic said Google will first give $10 billion in cash. The rest, about $30 billion, will be invested later if Anthropic reaches certain performance goals. This money will help Anthropic increase its computing power, which is very important for training and running advanced AI models.

Anthropic is best known for its Claude AI models. Its Claude Code tool has become popular among software developers because it helps with coding tasks and software development. The company’s revenue has also grown very quickly, rising from about $9 billion at the end of 2025 to more than $30 billion this month.

The news of Google’s investment comes shortly after Amazon also announced plans to invest up to $25 billion in Anthropic. This shows that major technology companies are competing to support leading AI startups.

Anthropic has recently made several deals to get more computing capacity. It has worked with companies such as Broadcom, CoreWeave, and Amazon to secure more chips, cloud services, and data centre power. The company also plans to spend billions of dollars building data centres in the United States.

Resultantly, Google’s investment shows how important Anthropic has become in the AI industry. It also shows that how powerful is the race of powerful AI models.

China’s DeepSeek launches powerful new AI model for tech autonomy

Earlier, Chinese AI company DeepSeek introduced a preview version of its new AI model called V4, making China less dependent on foreign tech industries. The model was designed to shift away from the heavy use of Nvidia hardware.

According to DeepSeek, the V4 Pro model performs better than most open-source AI models and is only behind Google’s Gemini-Pro-3.1. This step is considered an important step for China’s AI industry because Huawei’s Ascend chips are considered the strongest alternative to Nvidia processors.

Previously, DeepSeek mainly relied on Nvidia chips for training its AI systems. Now, Huawei confirmed that its Ascend chips were used during parts of the V4 training process. This partnership shows that advanced Chinese AI models can now run successfully on Chinese-made hardware.
