ISLAMABAD: October 27 is tomorrow, and people are still not sure if there will be a public holiday in Pakistan on the Kashmir Black day or not.

October 27, also known as Kashmir Black Day, holds great importance for the people of Pakistan and Kashmir.

On October 27, 1947, Indian forces landed in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, under the pretext of an Instrument of Accession purportedly signed by the then ruler, Hari Singh.

Globally, this action is viewed as the beginning of the region’s military occupation. Since then, Kashmiris and Pakistanis have commemorated this day as Kashmir Black Day.

In Pakistan, those who are not sure about the October 27 public holiday, it is important to mention here that the federal government’s 2025 holiday calendar does not list October 27 as a public or optional holiday.
