Safe city panic buttons installed at 68 locations in Peshawar

Panic buttons have been installed at 68 locations throughout Peshawar as part of the Safe City Project to facilitate a swift response to public complaints, as stated by the office of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa inspector general of police on Wednesday.

The statement said that these devices are equipped with both audio and video communication capabilities and are directly connected to the safe city headquarters.

According to the statement, the panic button system has been implemented for emergency situations, and activating a panic button will allow police to reach citizens without delay.

The provincial Police Chief, Zulfiqar Hameed, mentioned that this initiative aims to improve public safety in busy areas, ensuring the protection of students, women, and other citizens in crowded locations.

He also noted that similar facilities would be introduced in other cities in the near future.

It is important to note that the newly installed panic buttons are part of the Safe City Project in Peshawar.

According to the police statement, these devices are designed to provide citizens with a direct means of contacting authorities during emergencies through an integrated audio and video link with the central safe city system.

The Police Chief’s office further mentioned that this facility is particularly aimed at ensuring safety of individuals in crowded public spaces, including students and women.

Phase II of Karachi Safe City Project approved

Earlier, another safe city project, Phase II of the Karachi Safe City was approved by Sindh government.

CM Murad Ali Shah stated that the Safe City project is important for ensuring public safety and preventing crime.

He said that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the government’s highest priority, and that security measures would be improved through the use of modern technology.
