Pakistan and China welcomed the MoU between Iran and the United States. In this regard, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with the Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi.
During the conversation, the Chinese Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and its role in mediation and also praised Pakistan’s contribution to global peace.
On the other hand, Ishaq Dar expressed appreciation for China’s support for Pakistan’s efforts regarding the Iran–US issue and also acknowledged the Pakistan–China five-point initiative.
Furthermore, both leaders emphasised the importance of maintaining continuous communication for the implementation of the understanding reached between the parties and highlighted the significance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open for global trade.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan will host the “Islamabad Agreement” between the United States and Iran on Friday.
Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts have borne fruit, and the threat of a wider global conflict has been averted. Pakistan will host the signing ceremony of a historic peace agreement between the United States and Iran in Geneva, Switzerland, on Friday, June 19, 2026.
According to media reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the ceremony along with a high-level delegation. In his address to the National Assembly, the Prime Minister stated that after a long and dark period of conflict, a new dawn of peace has emerged. He added that history will remember Pakistan’s role in this achievement with great honour.
