Sindh Transport Minister calls Red Line BRT 'lifeline of Karachi's future'

Sindh’s Senior Minister for Information and Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has termed the ongoing Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project as “not just a development initiative but the lifeline for Karachi’s future.”

In a statement released to the media on Saturday, he informed the public that they would experience a noticeable improvement in traffic conditions and commuting convenience within two to three months after the construction work is resumed.

He further mentioned that efforts are being made to restore and reopen the under-construction segments of the road along the Red Line BRT corridor in phases, which will facilitate smoother traffic flow and reduce disruptions for daily commuters in Karachi.

Recognising the difficulties faced by the public, Memon acknowledged that large-scale infrastructure projects inevitably lead to temporary inconveniences.

Sindh government committed to dealing with traffic challenges

Nevertheless, he mentioned that the government is fully aware of these challenges and is actively working to tackle their effects.

To further improve congestion, he stated that clear instructions have been provided to all relevant authorities to ease traffic management in the affected areas.

In view of the the government’s strategy, the Transport Minister commented that the Sindh government has prioritised public interest by conducting a thorough review of all project aspects before making effective and informed decisions.

The Red Line BRT represents a flagship public welfare initiative of the Sindh government in Karachi, aimed at offering citizens modern, environmentally sustainable, and high-quality transportation options, marking a significant advancement towards sustainable urban development in Karachi.
