New venues PSL 2027

Pakistan Cricket board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced that the Pakistan Super league (PSL) in the forthcoming edition will have multiple other venues.

In an interview with the media, Naqvi noted that the people of Lahore were thankful and showed great support and enthusiasm in the PSL final.

He stated that the mood at Gaddafi stadium was remarkable, with fans exhibiting incredible energy and enthusiasm towards the match.

He further stated that he was especially impressed at how the residents of Lahore embraced the event and that fans were equally fanatic about both teams and that they enjoyed the match in a positive and celebratory mood.

In his view, this is a manifestation of the strong association that Pakistan has with the sport of cricket.

Naqvi made the comments following the PSL 11 final which saw a full-capacity crowd after special government permission.

In the early part of the tournament, only matches in Lahore and Karachi were allowed to be played without spectators due to fuel-saving measures related to a nationwide energy shortage.

He said that getting the government to allow people to attend the match was not easy, since the government had an original intention of cutting down on fuel consumption.

But he also included that the Prime Minister, too, had taken a personal interest in the decision to allow fans into the stadium, which finally resulted in a decision to allow a full stadium during the final.

The PCB chairman also stressed the fact that PSL 12 will be much larger and superior than the existing season.

His remarks are not isolated since the broader strategy of the board of increasing the footprint of the league has already been accomplished by increasing the number of teams from six to eight teams respectively, with an ambition of enhancing its international profile and global competitiveness.
