Police have arrested a suspicious individual from the Chohar Chowk area who allegedly identified himself as an Indian citizen.
According to police officials, personnel of Westridge Police Station detained the man after he claimed to be an Indian national. A case has been registered, and further investigation is currently underway.
Police said that during routine patrol, personnel noticed a man moving towards the Dhamial area. Upon spotting the police, the individual reportedly became nervous and attempted to turn back, prompting officers to stop him for questioning. The suspect was taken into custody for questioning after behaving suspiciously, police said.
During search and interrogation, the person failed to produce any valid identification or legal documents. Police said the man identified himself as Dalir Mushtaq, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Sufi, and stated that he is an Indian citizen. Two ballpoint pens and Rs 1,750 in Pakistani currency were recovered from his possession.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Foreigners Act, and relevant agencies have been informed to further investigate the matter and verify his identity and background.
