New speed limits announced in Karachi for Shara-e-Faisal traffic

Karachi Traffic Police has issued an official notification setting new speed limits for vehicles on the city’s main highway, Shara-e-Faisal, according to reports on Monday.

According to the DIG Traffic, the speed limit for cars and motorcycles has been increased. This has been done in order to improve traffic flow and make travel relatively faster.

According to the notification, cars and motorcycles will now be able to travel at a speed of 70 kilometres per hour on Shara-e-Faisal. This was previously set at a lower speed.

This decision has been taken keeping in mind the flow of traffic and the convenience of citizens.

However, there has been no change in the speed limit for heavy traffic. Trucks and other heavy vehicles will continue to travel at a speed of 30 kilometres per hour to reduce the risk of accidents.

The DIG Traffic clarified that the implementation of the new speed limits will be made sure of. He added that strict action will be taken against violators.

This move is being described as an important effort to improve traffic discipline in the city of Karachi, which often faces traffic related troubles.

Power outage hit Karachi

Daily life in many parts of Karachi is being badly affected due to long and unannounced power outages, especially in the extreme heat, according to reports.

Areas like Azizabad, Malir, Gadap, Kathore, Ahsanabad, and Liaquatabad are facing long power cuts.

In places like Manzoor Colony, Sher Shah, and Baldia, electricity is going out for 12 to 16 hours, making the heatwave even harder for residents.

In Azizabad, people came out on the streets to protest against the ongoing load shedding.

A day earlier, K-Electric assured an uninterrupted power supply during the ongoing heatwave as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority issued an alert for Karachi and advised authorities to take necessary measures to reduce the impact of extreme temperatures.
