HED Punjab decides to set up counseling centers in govt colleges

The Higher Education Department of Punjab (HED) has made a decision to establish counseling centers within government colleges to provide guidance and support for students.

As per Punjab govt officials, these counseling centers will offer 13 distinct types of facilities to students, including psychological assistance and socio-economic guidance.

In addition, students will be educated about health, hygiene, and educational issues to facilitate their overall development.

The centers will also offer advice on career counseling, job opportunities, skill development, and professional training, which will assist students in making informed decisions in their practical lives.

The objective of this initiative is to foster the character of students, improve their mental well-being, and train them for a more promising future.

Punjab announces transport support for students

Earlier, the Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, approved new steps to improve and standardise college education across the province. These included transport support and more scholarships for students.

The Chief Minister further ordered that all commerce colleges in Punjab be linked with public universities. In total, 36 colleges in 29 districts would now be connected to 19 government universities.

According to official reports, Google will now offer free certification courses to over 100,000 students in Punjab.

In April, the Punjab government also announced a scholarship program for ALP (Accelerated Learning Program) teachers as part of its efforts to support education.

The program will include 15,000 scholarships based on qualification levels and subjects for teachers in different districts across Punjab.
