Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first against Bangladesh in the opening Test match of the Pakistan Bangladesh Test series.
Young cricketers Azan Owais and Abdullah Fazal are set to make their Test debuts for Pakistan national cricket team in the match.
Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Bangladesh to watch the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman will attend the opening match of the series.
This will be Pakistan’s second series in the ICC World Test Championship.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Shan Masood said that the pitch prepared for the Test appears to favour fast bowlers. He added that the playing XI will be finalised after a final assessment of the pitch.
The series is expected to draw significant attention as both teams prepare to compete in a challenging away Test contest.
The Pakistan Test squad, led by Shan Masood, includes Abdullah Fazal, Imad Butt, Azaan Owais, Babar Azam, Hasan Ali, and Imam-ul-Haq, along with Khurram Shahzad, Muhammad Abbas, Mohammad Rizwan, Muhammad Ghazi Ghauri, Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Saud Shakeel, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.
Former Pakistan Test captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed head coach for the Bangladesh tour, while former Test cricketers Asad Shafiq and Umar Gul will serve as batting and bowling coaches, respectively.
