The current mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, was seen riding an electric bike on the city’s streets today, Friday, without protective gear such as a helmet.
The mayor of the city could be seen ignoring the traffic laws as he reached the Sindh Assembly on an electric bike without a helmet or a license.
While speaking, he admitted to violating two traffic laws, according to the reports, when he admitted to not having a license either.
“I have a driving licence for a car, but not for a motorcycle. Today I made two mistakes. I did not wear a helmet, and I do not have a motorcycle licence,” he said
“Now, I will buy a helmet and also apply for a license”, said the Mayor of Karachi, according to the reports.

Helmet and traffic safety steps
Previously in the ongoing year, motorcycle riders on the M9 motorway often ignored traffic rules, including riding without helmets, carrying more than two people, and violating one-way traffic regulations.
To improve public safety and maintain smooth traffic flow, the motorway police had launched a crackdown on motorcycle violations in the South zone.
Under the campaign, helmets are mandatory for both riders and pillion passengers. Triple riding has also been banned, and strict legal action is being taken against violators.
According to the motorway police, challans are being issued to riders without helmets. In addition, action is also being taken against those breaking one-way rules.
A spokesperson said the motorway police jurisdiction in Karachi begins from New Subzi Mandi.
He added that many motorcyclists use the M9 motorway daily to travel to Bahria Town Karachi and nearby villages.
The violation by the mayor comes after such important steps, after which many netizens were seen questioning the extent of application of the chalan and helmet laws.
