Tehran to hold emergency parliamentary session amid rising regional conflict

The Iranian Parliament has convened a high-level emergency session for the first time since escalating tensions and armed conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel.

A parliamentary spokesperson confirmed that the session will take place on Sunday, where lawmakers will conduct an in-depth review of the country’s current political, economic, and security situation.

According to the spokesperson, the meeting comes at a critical moment and will focus on assessing the impact of the ongoing crisis, including national security concerns, economic pressure and broader political developments.

Officials added that the session reflects the urgency of the situation, as Iran’s leadership seeks to coordinate its response across multiple fronts amid heightened regional instability.

The spokesman said that, given the wartime conditions, this parliamentary session will be conducted via video conference instead of in-person meetings, allowing members to share their views and suggestions in a safe environment. The session is expected to focus in detail on the economic impact of the conflict, including financial pressures and broader economic concerns.

According to Iranian media, the last public parliamentary session was held on February 16. This marks the first time the legislative body has been reactivated in such critical circumstances since then.

Experts believe this session could lay the groundwork for important decisions regarding the country’s future policies and its response to the ongoing conflict.
