Shahid Afridi, former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team said that both religious and worldly education are extremely important but the primary responsibility for a child’s proper upbringing lies with parents.
Speaking at an event held at a private school, Shahid Afridi stated that without proper upbringing, neither religious nor modern education can deliver the desired results.
He said parents often hand over children to schools at a very young age around two and a half to three years old, adding that basic training and upbringing until the age of five should take place at home because no teacher can be better than parents.
Afridi also expressed concern over the growing trend of giving mobile phones to children and urged parents to keep their children away from this habit.
He further revealed that he gave mobile phones to his daughters only after their marriage.
‘Geelay teetar’: Shahid Afridi claps back at Imran Riaz
Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi earlier responded strongly to Imran Riaz Khan after a promotional video of his went viral on social media.
In the video, Afridi said that it was a surprise for his fans. He said that anyone who buys five dresses for Eid or otherwise from Shahid Afridi Shop will get a special video call from him.
He further added that he would also meet them and their family in person. Some netizens called it unique, others deemed it cheap.
One of these netizens shared the video link on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, and wrote, “In short Afridi be like: Meri dukaan nhi chal ri! Please lay lo, mein call kr loonga!”
The netizen further added, “As if he has fans left if he can lose me (who was a mad blind fan), i am sure many left his side! He is resorting to these petty tactics for sale!”
The tweet was later quoted by former TV anchor and YouTuber Imran Riaz Khan, who wrote, “I appeal to Pakistanis to support their businesses. Thank you.”
Afridi replied to Imran Riaz Khan and wrote, “Geelay Teetar, this is a three-year-old video.”
Afridi further added, “How long will you keep selling lies and fraud on social media for dollars? Try speaking the truth sometimes, sure, you’ll earn fewer dollars, but you’ll gain a lot of peace”
