Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to participate in the meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS member countries.
The two-day meeting, being hosted under India’s presidency of the bloc, is expected to focus on regional stability, multilateral cooperation, economic resilience, and key global challenges facing member states.
The gathering comes at a time of heightened tensions in West Asia, with diplomats expected to discuss the ongoing regional situation and its impact on global trade, energy security, and international diplomacy.
During his visit, Araghchi is also expected to hold bilateral talks with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and other participating officials on the sidelines of the summit. Discussions are likely to include regional connectivity, maritime security, and economic cooperation between Tehran and New Delhi.
The BRICS bloc originally included Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, but has expanded in recent years to include Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The ministerial meeting in New Delhi will serve as a precursor to the upcoming BRICS Summit scheduled to take place later this year under India’s chairmanship.
