Retired Lieutenant General Saeed has strongly criticised recent remarks by the Indian Army chief, calling them reflective of India’s “aggressive and revisionist” regional approach.
In a statement shared on X, the former military officer warned that Pakistan would respond to any “unprovoked aggression” and said India could never dictate terms in South Asia.
Lt Gen Saeed (retd) emphasised that Pakistan would by no means damage India politically and militarily and emphasised that Islamabad was only looking for “just solution of historical disputes.”
He contended that India has to realise the strategic significance of Pakistan as a country in the world.
“You can’t wish away the fifth most populous country on the planet,” he wrote, “Pakistan is in a key geo-strategic location, has a strong armed force and is a nuclear power.”
The former military chief also threatened countermeasures for any unilateral or aggressive moves by India against Pakistan, assuring that Pakistan would always take actions to protect itself from external threats.
Lt Gen Saeed said it is a “regional balance of power” issue and India “will never be in a situation to dictate in South Asia” militarily.
He ended his post by saying that if the tension and differences among the 1.75 billion people in South Asia can be diffused and settled peacefully, they would have a better future.
