Web desk: Pakistan’s former white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan has not yet signed the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) new central contract for the 2025–26 season.
This happened despite being placed in Category B, according to media sources, on Wednesday.
According to sources, Muhammad Rizwan is the only one among 30 national players yet to accept the new deal. He was replaced by Shaheen Shah Afridi as ODI captain recently.
He has reportedly put forward certain demands that the PCB has not agreed to.
Sources said Rizwan had made certain demands to the PCB, which have not been accepted. Further adding that there is little chance of approval in the near future.
A social media post regarding this matter said, “Former captain Muhammad Rizwan has not yet signed the central contract, and he has set some conditions as to why he was dropped from the national T20 squad.”
Talking about the reason, the post said, “The reason for which should be given, all the players, which are 29 players, have signed the rest, but Muhammad Rizwan has not yet signed the central contract.”

Unlike last year, the PCB did not name any player in Category A, which previously included Babar Azam and Rizwan.
The board instead expanded the pool to 30 cricketers, distributed equally across Categories B, C, and D.
Meanwhile, several players earned promotions this year for their consistent performances.
Abrar Ahmed, Haris Rauf, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, and Shadab Khan have all moved up from Category C to B.
The newly contracted players include Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza, and Sufyan Muqeem.
