The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) enforcement teams, during their crackdown on electricity theft, meter tampering, and illegal power usage, found cases of meter security breaches involving a tube well and a commercial connection in different operations.
The Metering & Testing (M&T) Eastern Shalimar team took action in the Jati Umrah subdivision and found a security breach in the meter of a commercial hostel connection, as reported by LESCO officials.
They further noted that this connection was using a 16-kilowatt load and had a 25-kVA transformer installed.
Authorities discovered that the hostel in Lahore had 13 rooms and one store room.
In light of new developments, LESCO officials have stated that evidence has been gathered and further legal and departmental actions have been initiated against the building’s owners.
LESCO introduces new policy for solar users
Recently, LESCO issued a new policy regarding net metering and solar installations, introducing stricter requirements for systems exceeding 14 kilowatts (kW).
Under the revised policy, consumers installing solar systems of up to 14 kW will continue to follow the existing net metering procedure without any additional conditions.
However, for systems above 14 kW, users will now be required to install their own dedicated transformer as a mandatory condition. Failure to comply will result in ineligibility for net metering.
According to LESCO officials, the move aims to regulate high-load solar installations in a more efficient manner and reduce pressure on the electricity distribution network.
