Radio Caroline, a UK radio station, made a shocking mistake and announced that King Charles had died on Tuesday. The announcement left the listeners stunned.
The station Radio Caroline is broadcast across South England and the Midlands and it interrupted its normal programming to play “God Save the King.”
However, due to a technical error they activated the “Death of a Monarch” protocol.
The station manager Peter Moore quickly rectified the mistake with an on-air apology who explained the false announcement was caused by a computer error.
The Station Manager expressed regret for the distress that was caused by the announcement. He stated, “We apologise to his majesty the King and to our listeners for any distress caused.”
Currently King Charles is undergoing treatment for cancer. At the time of the announcement he was actually attending events in Northern Ireland.
Sometime after this announcement he was spotted in good spirits. He also joked about being splattered by a seagull during a public appearance.
After Peter Moore’s apology the Radio Caroline also gave out a formal apology. They also promised that they will be broadcasting King’s Christmas message for many years to come.
