ISLAMABAD: Hadi Ali Chatha, husband of Iman Mazari and a social activist and a human rights lawyer has been arrested from the court room on Wednesday.
The District and Session Court of Islamabad ordered the arrest of Hadi Ali Chatta after the court rejected an extension in his bail.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) filed a case against Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha over a social media post that authorities described as controversial.
The case centres on social media posts allegedly critical of state and national security institutions.
According to initial reports, Hadi Ali Chattha was detained by law enforcement soon after his court appearance in Islamabad.
Authorities say his arrest is connected to the amplification of posts made by Imaan Mazari on X (formerly Twitter).
Officials added that Chattha became part of the investigation for retweeting posts deemed “anti-state” and “controversial” by the authorities.
During the previous hearing, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka dismissed the couple’s objections to the supplementary challan.
The judge also rejected a miscellaneous application filed by the prosecution seeking voice matching.
