The government of Pakistan has released the guidelines on how you can get Rs5000 under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif programme (BTWP).

The programme is a government initiative aimed at increasing school enrolment and helping children from low-income families remain in education.

The programme provides educational stipends to children whose mothers are active beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Kafalat programme.

According to the eligibility criteria, a child’s mother must be a registered and active beneficiary of the BISP Kafalat programme.

The child must also possess a valid computerised B-Form issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

The age requirements of the children vary according to the level of education.

Children enrolled in primary education must be between four and 12 years old, those in secondary education between eight and 18 years old, and students in higher secondary education should be between 13 and 22 years old.

How to register in the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif programme?

The following five easy steps are required for getting registered for the programme:

  • Parents or guardians wishing to register their children for the programme must visit the nearest BISP field office with the child.
  • They are required to provide the child’s NADRA-issued B-Form and the mobile phone number already registered with BISP.
  • Following registration, BISP staff issue an enrolment slip, which must be taken to the child’s school or college.
  • The institution’s head teacher or class teacher is required to complete the form with details including the school’s name, class, section and official stamp.
  • The verified slip must then be submitted back to the BISP office for processing.

The officials said that the applicants must provide the mother’s national identity card, the child’s B-Form and proof of school or college enrolment.

They added that the child’s B-Form would be verified through the NADRA database before approval.

Authorities have also stated that students must maintain at least 70% attendance in school or college to continue receiving payments under the programme.

Stipends may be suspended if the attendance requirement is not met.

Under the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif programme, quarterly stipends (stipends given after three months) vary according to educational level and gender.

Boys in classes one to five receive Rs2,500 per quarter, while girls receive Rs3,000.

For classes six to ten, boys receive Rs3,500 and girls Rs4,000.

Students in classes eleven and twelve are entitled to Rs4,500 for boys and Rs5,000 for girls.

Meanwhile, girls who complete primary education are eligible for a one-time graduation bonus of Rs3,000, to encourage female students to continue their education in future.
