Those who harass, blackmail women will not be forgiven: Maryam Nawaz

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that the recent matter involving a PML-N Member of the Provincial Assembly and a prominent media personality is a personal issue and will be handled strictly on merit and in accordance with the law.

In a statement posted on X, Maryam Nawaz said that no one involved in harassing, threatening, or exploiting a woman would be spared. She emphasised that no individual, regardless of status, position, or political affiliation, is above the law.

The chief minister further stated that state institutions would perform their duties independently, impartially, and in line with the Constitution and the law. She warned that any attempt to exert political pressure, misuse influence, or exploit a woman by threatening to release personal content publicly would face strict and uncompromising action.

Maryam Nawaz termed the statement a “clear and serious warning” to anyone involved in such actions.

The Chief Minister stated that a strong warning has been issued to those involved and that the use of political influence will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

On the other hand, Punjab Women Protection Authority Chairperson Hina Pervez Butt assured that justice will be ensured in the Momina Iqbal case.

In her statement on social media, Hina Pervez Butt said that the NCCIA has initiated legal action on the request of actress Momina Iqbal. She added that there is no truth in the allegation that individuals associated with the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office are trying to suppress the matter.

The PML-N Member of the Provincial Assembly also assured that, God willing, justice will be served in the Momina Iqbal case.
