Suthra Punjab Programme has completed all arrangements for the Eidul Azha cleanliness operation and issued a special waste management plan for the city.
According to officials, leaves of over 17,000 sanitary workers, 5,000 drivers, and support staff have been cancelled. More than 23,000 personnel will remain active in three shifts to carry out cleanliness duties during Eid.
Under the Eid plan, more than 1.5 million eco-friendly waste bags will be distributed free of cost among citizens, while 319 Eid camps are being set up across the city.
Authorities said that 103 temporary collection points and four dumping sites will remain operational. Special dumping sites have been established at Lakhodair, Saggian, Tibba, and Sundar for the disposal of animal waste.
DG Suthra Punjab Babar Sahib Din said that a central control room will remain active 24/7 for live digital monitoring of the grand cleanliness operation. Vehicle tracking and immediate resolution of public complaints will also be ensured.
Officials added that drone cameras will monitor illegal dumping of animal waste into canals, while additional staff will be deployed at bus stands, wagon terminals, commercial markets, and crowded areas.
Cleanliness will be ensured at 1,500 mosques, Eidgahs, 268 graveyards, and all commercial markets. Washing of 189 designated slaughter points will continue throughout the three days of Eid.
Suthra Punjab Lahore will utilize 100% of its vehicles and machinery for the operation. On Chand Raat, 23 excavators will be used, followed by 107 on the first day of Eid, 106 on the second day, and 88 on the third day.
For transport operations, 68 trolleys will be used on Chand Raat, 187 on the first day, 179 on the second day, and 62 on the third day. Similarly, loaders will include 29 on Chand Raat, 73 on the first day, 69 on the second day, and 30 on the third day.
Dumpers will also be deployed, including 50 on Chand Raat, 358 on the first day, 344 on the second day, and 179 on the third day, to transport and dispose of waste. Additionally, 637 extra pickups will be used on the first and second days of Eid for waste collection from streets and neighbourhoods.
