The government of Pakistan has announced a Rs6 cut in the prices of petrol and diesel on May 22.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs6 per litre, while the price of diesel has been cut by Rs6.80 per litre.

Under the revised rates, petrol will be sold at Rs403.78 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has been set at Rs402.58 per litre.

Pakistan’s federal government, under the instructions of the Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has reduced the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs6 per litre for the coming week, according to the Petroleum Division.

The new prices will come into effect from 12:00am on Saturday, May 23.

As per the Petroleum Ministry, the recent cut in the petrol and diesel prices will remain in effect for one week only.

The latest reduction follows a similar cut announced last week, when the government lowered the prices of both petrol and diesel by Rs5 per litre.

Officials said the adjustment was made as part of the government’s regular fuel price review mechanism, which takes into account international oil prices and other market factors.

The reduction is expected to provide some relief to motorists, transport operators and businesses that rely heavily on fuel for daily operations.

A formal notification confirming the revised prices is expected to be issued by the Petroleum Division.
