Web desk: Facebook has launched a new feature that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help users rediscover and share old memories.
The tool automatically suggests photos and videos from a user’s camera roll, allowing them to create simple collages and short edits without much effort.
According to the company, the feature is meant to encourage people to share special moments that often go unnoticed.
Many users take hundreds of photos but never post them, either because they think the quality isn’t good enough or because they don’t have the time to edit.
Facebook’s New AI Tool
Facebook says its new AI will “surface hidden gems” buried among screenshots and random snaps, making it easier to post meaningful memories.
The feature could also prove useful for small business owners who rely on social media to stay visible.
By automatically generating visually appealing content, it helps them showcase their products, staff or events without needing professional design skills.
A Facebook representative said the tool “does the heavy lifting” so users can focus on sharing, not editing.
Businesses can use it to share behind-the-scenes photos, customer moments or highlights from events like product launches or community activities.
A café, for example, could use the tool to post a quick collage from an open mic night or share photos of regular customers, adding a personal touch to its feed.
Facebook says privacy was a major consideration in developing the feature. All AI-generated suggestions stay private until users decide to post them.
The company says users can also disable the option at any time through the app’s camera roll settings.
The feature is currently available in the United States and Canada and appears in both Facebook Stories and the main Feed.
The company plans to roll it out to other countries in the coming months.
With this update, Facebook is continuing its push toward more personal and creative sharing.
The company hopes the new tool will make posting easier, more spontaneous and more engaging for users and small businesses alike.
