The Meteorological Department has predicted that a heat wave will be experienced nationwide from today till May 31, and temperatures are expected to get significantly higher.
The maximum temperatures recorded in this period are projected to be 5-7 °C higher than normal, which will lead to heightened heat conditions in some areas, according to officials.

Sindh and southern Punjab (including Sukkur, Jacobabad, Larkana, Mohenjo Daro, Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Sibi, Turbat, Dera Ghazi Khan and Multan) are at risk of very high temperatures.
During the day in these regions it can reach as high as 47- 50 degrees Celsius, and cause extreme heat stress to the residents.

Karachi remains comparatively cooler with its temperature ranging between 35-38 C on the forecast period, overall it remains hot.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures were recorded on Sunday were at 49 degrees Celsius in Dadu.
Other stations, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mohenjo Daro, Jacobabad, Sakrand and Larkana, had a maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius.
Karachi had 35 degrees Celsius, Muzaffarabad 33 and Quetta 27 Celsius which, generally, was a cooler temperature. Karachi was 35 degrees and Muzaffarabad was 33 degrees Celsius generally a cooler temperature was recorded in Quetta as well. Gilgit had a temperature of 27 degrees.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj separately broadcast the warning of extreme weather during this year’s pilgrimage, adding that the maximum temperatures at Makkah on May 25 are expected to hit up to 47 degree-celsius. During the pilgrimage period, the temperatures are expected to reach high in Madinah too.
