Lionel Messi, widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time, sparked injury concerns among football fans after experiencing discomfort during Inter Miami CF’s American League clash. The Argentine superstar requested to be substituted before leaving the field, raising fears over his fitness.
The incident took place during a match against the Philadelphia Union, where the rain-soaked pitch made conditions difficult for the players.
In the 73rd minute, Messi was seen holding the back of his left leg and was immediately taken off the field. However, he appeared to be walking normally as he headed toward the dugout.
Later, the team coach said the issue did not initially appear to be serious and that Messi had been rested as a precaution.
He added that Messi was tired due to the poor pitch conditions and continuous play, so he was substituted to avoid any possible risk.
It is worth noting that the 38-year-old Messi has not yet officially confirmed whether he will play in the next FIFA World Cup, but he is expected to represent defending champions Argentina in what could be the sixth World Cup of his career.
