Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the long-standing friendship between Pakistan and China, describing the relationship as “two souls and one heart.”

He made the remarks while addressing a special ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The prime minister said Pakistan and China have built their strong ties over more than seven decades through the dedication, commitment and vision of their leadership. He said the relationship has now reached a level that has no parallel in international diplomacy.

Shehbaz Sharif also praised China’s rise as a global economic and military power, saying it reflects decades of hard work, stability and consistent leadership. He said China’s progress offers important lessons for countries facing poverty, unemployment and economic challenges.

He added that China shows the world how determined efforts can turn difficult goals into reality.

The prime minister especially praised Chinese President Xi Jinping for lifting more than 800 million people out of poverty through strong and visionary policies.

He also said President Xi promotes peace, dialogue and diplomacy despite China’s global strength, which has earned him respect as one of the most influential leaders of the modern era.

Recalling historical moments, Shehbaz Sharif shared his memories of former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai’s visit to Lahore, saying he witnessed the warm welcome given by students, teachers and citizens alongside former Pakistani leader Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

He also highlighted China’s support during Pakistan’s devastating 2010 floods, when Chinese experts, helicopters and rescue teams took part in relief operations in affected areas.

The prime minister said the Pakistan-China friendship has stood strong through every challenge and continues to grow stronger with time.
