Multiple famous ice cream outlets sealed in Lahore

Multiple outlets of well-known ice cream brands in Lahore were reportedly sealed on Tuesday after authorities found expired and substandard food items during inspections.

One of these brands was Baskin-Robbins, which is a multinational brand with more than twenty outlets in Lahore. It was found selling expired brownies that were stored in freezers along with ice cream products.

A branch of Sweet Creme was also sealed. Reports say that an inspection showed unhygienic conditions and expired food items, according to videos circulating on social media.

The footage shows officials inspecting the outlet. They can be seen pointing out violations of basic cleanliness and food safety standards.

Officials said the action was taken after confirming that the store was not following proper hygiene rules and was storing expired products for sale.

In another video circulating on X, a Jay Bees ice cream outlet located at a petrol pump was also sealed over similar violations.

Authorities have said that routine inspections will continue. This is to protect public health and prevent the sale of expired or substandard food items in the market.

Punjab crackdown on schools

Previously, the Punjab government announced summer vacations for all schools across the province from May 22 to August 23 due to rising temperatures and heatwave conditions.

Despite the notification, authorities have now launched a crackdown on private schools that remained open during the holiday period.

According to media reports, Deputy Commissioners in different districts have started sealing schools found violating the government’s orders.

In the Changa Manga area, inspection teams working under the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner of Kasur carried out raids on several schools that were operating during the summer break.

During the operation, authorities sealed institutions including Leeds School, Sindhu Model School, Quaid-e-Azam Public School, and Hazara Public School for failing to follow the official summer vacation schedule.
