BISP sets deadline for Benazir mobile SIM registration

The federal government of Pakistan has announced a major update for beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme’s (BISP) Kafalat initiative, according to reports today.

The programme will now move toward a digital payment system for the future instalments.

Under the new system, payments will be transferred directly to digital wallet accounts that will be linked with a Benazir mobile SIM.

The move is part of the cashless economy vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to the reports.

How to register

BISP has asked all eligible beneficiaries who have not yet received their Benazir mobile SIM to visit the nearest BISP office with their personal mobile phones for registration.

Deadline

According to officials, the free Benazir mobile SIM must be obtained before 15 June 2026.

Earlier this year, the government also approved an increase of Rs5,000 in the quarterly stipend under the BISP Kafalat programme.

The increase is expected to provide more financial support to low income families across the country. Reports said that around 10.2 million beneficiaries are expected to benefit from the higher payments.

BISP stipend likely to increase from Rs14,000 to Rs18,000

The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is set to increase its quarterly stipend by 24.14 per cent as the federal government has decided, according to reports today. It will raise it from Rs14,000 to Rs18,000.

Officials have confirmed that this new payment plan will start from January 2027. It is part of wider reforms to support low-income families who have been affected by rising costs of things.

The new instalment of the BISP was likely to be released on May 18, 2026, before Eid ul Azha.

According to the details, this payment will provide financial help to poor families ahead of Eid. It is expected to support low-income households.

Only those families and individuals who are already registered and verified through the National Socio-Economic Registry survey will receive the payment.
