Anmol Pinky ‘bribed’ her way out during PTI government
After the arrest of Karachi’s alleged cocaine dealer Pinky, more details have reportedly emerged about her network and personal life.
According to reports, Punjab police arrested Anmol alias Pinky in Lahore in 2018. However, she allegedly paid a Rs70 million bribe to avoid further action during the PTI government’s tenure.
Reports said Pinky’s first marriage was to a lawyer living in Malaysia. Who allegedly taught her how to make cocaine and expand the drug network. Investigators are also examining these links and their possible role in the alleged growth of her operations.
Some reports also claimed that her second marriage was to a DSP in Lahore. He allegedly helped her leave Punjab during the PTI government’s tenure and reportedly received a large amount of money from her alleged drug business in return for his services.
Sohail Afridi ‘threatens’ media
Chief Minister (CM) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi, through a video message, directed government officials to take legal action against media houses criticising the government.
Sohail Afridi instructed all provincial secretaries to send legal notices within three days to media outlets reporting on corruption.
In the video, he further said that any government official who fails to take legal action against media houses will face action on the fourth day.
An attempt was reportedly being made to restrict press freedom in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reports said. Reports also said that Sohail Afridi had directed officials to start legal action against media houses within three days.
Reports of corruption in government institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have frequently appeared in the media. However, CM Sohail Afridi is reportedly unhappy with coverage highlighting corruption.
It is alleged that threats are now being used to stop reporting on corruption-related news.
