Punjab govt allows summer camps from June 1 to 30th

Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced that school summer camps across the province will be permitted to operate from June 1 to June 30.

According to the announcement, the camps will run daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM only, ensuring limited hours of activity during the summer schedule.

In a message shared on X, the minister stated that the initiative aims to help compensate for students’ learning losses caused by extended school holidays during the academic year.

According to the announcement, the summer camps are designed to support academic recovery and ensure continued engagement in learning activities during the vacation period.

Summer camps declared voluntary

Education officials have made it clear that student participation in summer camps will remain completely optional. Schools are required to secure written permission from parents or guardians before enrolling any student in such activities.

Authorities stressed that attendance must be based entirely on parental consent, ensuring that no student is forced to take part against their will.

Private schools prohibited from charging extra fees

Private educational institutions have been strictly instructed not to impose any additional charges for summer camp programs. The department warned that no school is allowed to create extra financial pressure on families in the name of these activities.

Officials further stated that any violation of these rules could lead to legal consequences against the concerned institutions.

Indoor-only activities ordered for student safety

All summer camp sessions must be conducted strictly indoors, according to the new guidelines issued by the School Education Department.

The decision has been taken to safeguard students from extreme heat and harsh weather conditions during the summer season. Schools have been directed to avoid any outdoor activities throughout the duration of the camps.
