Acer launches streaming-only handheld gaming PC

Acer is introducing a new handheld gaming PC, the Acer Nitro Blaze Link.

Unlike the high-end options like the Steam Deck or Lenovo Legion Go that other handhelds in the Nitro line compete with, Acer’s new device will resemble the PlayStation Portal and is designed specifically for streaming games from another device.

Acer Nitro Blaze Link specs

The Acer Nitro Blaze Link will have only 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, but it can stream games from compatible devices like Acer’s Predator or Nitro gaming laptops.

It features a 7-inch, 1920 × 1200 touchscreen display and weighs just 1 pound (464g), making it portable.

The device will operate on the open-source Debian Linux system, using Sunshine and Moonlight software for streaming.

It remains uncertain if users can connect the handheld to devices from other brands.

An Acer representative informed CNET that the company is not currently making any claims that it will work on systems outside of the Acer ecosystem.

However, they mentioned that the Linux OS has wide hardware compatibility, but the handheld is specifically designed to work with Acer Predator and Nitro gaming laptops.

The Acer Nitro Blaze Link is expected to launch in North America in Q4 2026, but Acer has not disclosed a launch price.

Additionally, the Acer Nitro Blaze Link marks a major shift in Acer’s strategy compared to the Nitro Blaze 11, which was announced in January and featured a large 10.95-inch display, 16GB of RAM, and the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, a CPU commonly found in gaming laptops.
