Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has given Pakistan Hajj Mission an international excellence award for the second year in a row, acknowledging its effective management of pilgrimage operations and services, as stated by Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs on Saturday.
The award was given to Abdul Wahab Soomro, the director general of the Pakistan Hajj Mission, during a ceremony led by Saudi Hajj and Umrah Minister Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, which was attended by heads of Hajj missions and senior officials from various nations.
This recognition follows Pakistan’s successful arrangements for nearly 179,000 pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season, which included about 119,000 under the government scheme and around 60,000 through private operators. Managing Hajj is one of the largest annual overseas logistical operations carried out by the Pakistani government.
“In recognition of the exceptional performance of the Pakistan Hajj Mission on an international scale, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah presented the ‘Labaytum Excellence Award’ to Director General of the Pakistan Hajj Mission, Abdul Wahab Soomro,” said Pakistan’s Religious Affairs Ministry in a statement.
“The award was given in acknowledgment of achievements in Hajj management, the facilities offered to pilgrims, and overall administrative performance.”
The Ministry noted that the mission under Soomro’s guidance, has received this international honor for the second consecutive year.
