The government has increased the price of petrol by Rs12.90 per litre, raising its price to Rs358.77 per litre under its new system for determining petroleum prices on a daily basis.
According to the Petroleum Division’s notification, the new prices will remain effective for one day, September 8 (Tuesday).
Since July 22, the government has increased the price of petrol by Rs38.04 per litre. Petrol was selling at Rs320.73 per litre on July 22, compared with Rs358.77 per litre currently.
The price of high-speed diesel has also increased during the same period. Diesel was priced at Rs367.21 per litre on July 22 and now costs Rs381.77 per litre, marking an overall increase of Rs14.56 per litre.
The government has increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs3.72 per litre in the latest revision.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) determined the revised petroleum prices, after which the Petroleum Division issued the official notification.
The government has kept the petroleum levy unchanged at Rs80 per litre for both petrol and diesel.
The latest increase comes after the government decided to review and determine petroleum prices on a daily basis amid fluctuations in international oil prices.
