The annual Hajj pilgrimage is on its final day in the holy city of Makkah on Tuesday, with nearly two million Muslims performing hajj in Makkah, while the Hajj sermon was given at Arafat by the famous Dr Sheikh Ali Al-Huthaify.
The worshippers came from around the world to pray and seek God’s forgiveness in one of the largest gatherings of the world on the holiest day of the pilgrimage, the day of Arafat.
The sermon was on piety, faith, responsibility and preparation for the Day of Judgment.
Sheikh Al-Huthaify said to the pilgrims, “O people! Piety (Taqwa) towards Allah Almighty is obligatory upon you; and advised Muslims to be pious according to the command of Allah.
He also reiterated the fact that “Allah Almighty is the one who has the power over everything” and stressed that keeping our promises to Allah is one of the most important characteristics of true believers.
The imam also talked in detail about the Hereafter and the severity of the Day of Judgment.
What will happen on the day of Judgment is frightening, he said, and each person will be held accountable by Allah.
He called on Muslims to get ready for the test by doing good deeds, and have faith and obey the divine laws.
In the sermon, verses from the Holy Quran were recited and the pilgrims listened attentively in a very hot climate.
The Saudi government had taken extensive measures to control the crowd, provide medical and transportation facilities to make it easier for the pilgrims to travel for the sacred rituals.
For Muslims around the globe, Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, and it is an extremely spiritual act.
Millions of pilgrims visit Makkah every year in order to engage in the sacred Hajj that represents unity, devotion, sacrifice and submission to Allah.
The pilgrimage fosters equality among the believers irrespective of their nationalities and statuses, and it is a spiritual cleansing, reflection and journey of faith for every Muslim who performs it.
